Materials you will need to install an artificial vertical garden
- Tape measure: To measure the installation area.
- Stapler, screw hooks, or cable ties: To secure the artificial plants.
- Drill: For drilling into hard walls such as brick or concrete.
- Level: To ensure the garden is straight.
- Screwdriver: For tightening screws or fasteners.
- Shears or scissors: To cut the mesh as needed.
- Hammer: To drive nails or spikes.
- Artificial vertical garden: Panels or individual plants.
STEP 1 Measure
Start by measuring the wall space where you want to hang the vertical garden. Take the measurements using a tape measure.
Step 2: Mark
Mark the entire area with a pencil or masking tape.
Step 3: Preparation
Transfer the measurements from the wall to the pieces, turn them over, and mark them with a bit of masking tape. This way, you can cut the required length precisely. Use wire cutters or sturdy scissors to make the cut.
Step 4: Joining
After cutting the material and positioning the pieces back-to-back, join them with plastic cable ties to form a single unit. If the vertical garden is large, create 4x3m sections.
Step 5 Secure
Use a couple of nails and a hammer to fix its position on the wall, and make sure it is straight using a level.
Next, use a manual stapler to attach the vertical garden to your wall. Once the garden is stapled to the wall, remove the tacks you placed earlier.
If you don’t have a stapler, you can use a drill and several screws, or attach it to a lightweight base—such as a plastic sheet—and then hang it on the wall.
With a drill:
- Mark the positions:
- Mark the spots on the wall where you will drill the holes, ensuring they are 20 cm from the edges of the panels.
- Drill the holes:
- Use a drill with a 6 mm bit to drill into the wall at the marked points.
- Position the wall plugs:
- Insert wall plugs into the drilled holes.
- Secure the mounting bases:
- Use a screwdriver to install the mounting brackets that will support the vertical garden.
Step 6 Install
- Place the plates:
- Fit the artificial vertical garden panels onto the mounting bases.
- Check with a level:
- Verify that the plates are aligned and straight before proceeding to the next ones.
Step 7 Attach the additional plates
- Connect the boards:
- If you need to install multiple panels, join them with cable ties to ensure continuity and stability.
- Trim the excess:
- Use scissors or snips to trim the excess cable ties, ensuring a clean finish.
Step 8 Comb the garden
- Arrange the leaves:
- Adjust the leaves and branches of the vertical garden to give them a natural shape.
- Give it volume:
- Fluff out the plants to make them look fuller and more realistic.
