Artificial grass is a water-saving measure
A natural lawn requires consistent watering, and during droughts, time must be invested in frequent irrigation.
Consequently, the significant consumption of water and other required resources can be avoided by replacing it with artificial turf—a highly important preventive measure for water conservation.
Artificial grass does not require water and offers the following benefits:
- Artificial grass is easy to install and adapts to all types of spaces, whether public or private. It requires neither construction work nor a large financial outlay.

Which amounts to a monthly cost of €34,675.
Artificial turf can have a lifespan of 15 years or even longer, so for an area of 100 m², this translates to savings of €6,241.50 on water alone.
However, it must not be forgotten that this calculation is based on average consumption and price.
Then there is the need for fertilizing, mowing, watering, replanting, and general health maintenance. The lawn could fall victim to pests or disease, requiring chemical treatments to remedy the issue. Furthermore, site preparation and installation represent a significant expense, hovering around €3,000.
In short, during the first year of natural turf, costs would cover the sod, water, machinery, fertilizers, and the installation of the irrigation system, potentially amounting to an investment of over €5,000. And for the second year, it would be:
Garden maintenance typically costs between €60 and €320 per month, with an average cost of €190 per month. Annually, this comes to €2,280.
