1. Water to clean and refresh it
It is advisable to water the artificial grass occasionally, to perform a surface rinse, in this way we get rid of the dust and dirt that may be on it.
Furthermore, during the warmer seasons, we can water it more frequently to cool our garden or terrace. The water moistens the artificial grass and its infill, lowering its temperature.
2. Brushing the artificial turf
If decorative artificial grass is used normally, it is not necessary to brush it, but if it is ever used intensively it is a good idea to do so.
So, after a barbecue, party, or celebration, we recommend brushing the lawn with a long-bristled brush, preferably plastic to avoid damaging it. This way, you clean it, redistribute the infill evenly, and keep the grass blades upright.
The fiber recovers on its own, but by brushing the most frequented areas in the opposite direction, we help that recovery and keep our artificial grass in better condition for a longer time.
3. Specific stains and deep cleaning
If we need or want to do a more thorough cleaning, we can mix the following in a watering can or spray bottle: liquid soap (dish soap works) and water. This way, we remove even the most stubborn dirt and any bacteria.
You can also use Best Garden’s specific liquid disinfectant for artificial grass, which also: freshens the air with a grass scent, is antibacterial, and protects the surface from UV rays.
If any stains occur on the artificial turf, or if your pet makes a mess, apply the previously described mixture of liquid soap and water to the affected area and scrub with a soft scouring pad. Then, rinse thoroughly with pressurized water.
4. Detangling and filling
If the grass strands are tangled, we can untangle them with a handheld scarifier using wet grass so that it slides more easily.
